Baseball Recap: Schulenburg Has No Trouble Against Kenedy

It's playoff time, and Schulenburg had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Kenedy Lions with a sharp 7-1 win on Thursday. That looming 7-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Shorthorns yet this season.

Brycen Schramek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits.

On the hitting side, Aaron Janecek was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Reid Janda, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Schulenburg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kenedy, their record now sits at 18-10.

Schulenburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lions: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
