Baseball Recap: Woodrow Wilson Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Woodrow Wilson won the last time they faced Lakewood and things went their way on Friday too. Woodrow Wilson came out on top against Lakewood by a score of 4-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.

Ben Howard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Woodrow Wilson is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Eddie Becker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Russell Centanni also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Woodrow Wilson pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lakewood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodrow Wilson will host Cerritos at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lakewood, they will be playing at home against Torrance at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Torrance will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Lakewood surely won't give up without a fight.
