Palm Harbor University is a perfect 8-0 against Pinellas Park since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hurricanes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. Palm Harbor University is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Palm Harbor University is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Calvary Christian just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 6-3 to the Warriors.
Mylie Stout spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Palm Harbor University saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Via Muller, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pinellas Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Lakewood 17-2 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Madison Wagner was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Bella Birge was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Pinellas Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Pinellas Park has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Palm Harbor University, their loss dropped their record down to 18-5.
Pinellas Park's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Palm Harbor University has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Pinellas Park, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Palm Harbor University's sizable advantage in that area, the Patriots will need to find a way to close that gap.
Palm Harbor University took their win against Pinellas Park in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Hurricanes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
