Football Recap: Michael Wynn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Genevieve over Mary Star of the Sea

St. Genevieve was the 27-20 winner over Mary Star of the Sea when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Valiants took a 21-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stars on Friday. The Valiants gained 57 more yards on the day, but it was the Stars that made the best use of them.

St. Genevieve lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Michael Wynn, who threw for 208 yards and one TD, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. A healthy portion of Wynn's aerial production (111 yards to be exact) went to Jayden Lepley.

Giuseppe Virzi had a dynamite game For Mary Star of the Sea., rushing for 95 yards and a pair of scores.

Having lost for the first time this season, St. Genevieve fell to 5-1. As for Mary Star of the Sea, their record is now 4-2.

Coming up, St. Genevieve will venture away from home to face off against Monrovia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mary Star of the Sea, they will host St. Monica at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mariners' defense has only allowed 6.1 points per game this season, so the Stars' offense will have their work cut out for them.
