Football Recap: Lafayette Commodores vs. Clarksdale Wildcats
Lafayette was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 34-14 to the Clarksdale Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Commodores of the 21-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
Defeat or not, Lafayette got some senior leadership from Nick Thompson and Charvon Bell. Thompson rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown, while Bell picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown. Bell got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 85 yards.
Lafayette's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Clarksdale, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing West Point the next time they take the field. Clarksdale will head out to face West Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Lafayette will host them at 7:00 p.m. on October 25th.
