Baseball Game Preview: Dunedin Falcons vs. Northeast Vikings

The Dunedin Falcons will face off against the Northeast Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Dunedin nor Northeast posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Dunedin fell victim to Lemont and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 6-0 to the Lemont HS.

Dunedin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Fallon, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Meanwhile, Northeast didn't have quite enough to beat Hollins on Monday and fell 2-1.

Xander Gericke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Northeast's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-9. As for Dunedin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Dunedin couldn't quite finish off Northeast when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Dunedin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
