The Mustangs fell just short of the Marshals by a score of 23-21 on Friday. The Mustangs have struggled against the Marshals recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Muhlenberg County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Marshall County, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Muhlenberg County and Marshall County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Mustangs will challenge Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (148 vs. 27). Meanwhile, Marshall County (ranked 125th) will meet Owensboro (ranked 23rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
