Softball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Gorham

Gorham proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Bonny Eagle Scots 4-3. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Scots recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Bella McBrady spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Gorham's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer VonderHaar, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Lily Tukey was another, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Gorham pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bonny Eagle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Gorham is set to take on their familiar foe Windham at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.1, the Eagles 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Bonny Eagle will face off against rival Westbrook at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
