Softball Game Preview: Pike County Central Hawks vs. Blazer Tomcats

The Pike County Central Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Blazer Tomcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pike County Central is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Pike County Central's offense. They lost 11-0 to Hazard on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hawks have suffered against the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs since April 4, 2015.

Meanwhile, while it was Blazer who put the first runs on the board on Friday, it was Cabell Midland who put up more. The Tomcats fell just short of the Knights by a score of 6-4. The Tomcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Blazer's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Pike County Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.

Pike County Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Blazer in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
