Basketball Recap: Calvary Christian Takes a Loss

Calvary Christian was the 48-42 winner over Upper Scioto Valley when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Calvary Christian Spartans lost 46-21 to the Upper Scioto Valley Rams on Thursday.

Despite the loss, Calvary Christian still got an impressive performance from Kaylie Carter, who posted eight points.

Leading Upper Scioto Valley to victory were Raegan Castle and Shalyn Lawrence. Castle had ten points and six rebounds, while Lawrence put up nine points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Lawrence a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivie Gonzalez, who earned five points.

Calvary Christian's defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Upper Scioto Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-11.

Calvary Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 37-14 loss against Miami Valley on the 1st. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they will face off against Spencerville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Upper Scioto Valley is facing Spencerville at the right time seeing as Spencerville is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
