Basketball Recap: Golden Gate Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

There's no place like home for Golden Gate, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They secured a 56-51 W over the Aubrey Rogers Patriots on Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Titans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Sam Powell was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 40 points and 15 boards. Kamal Hyppolite was another key player, putting up five points.

Aubrey Rogers' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Muhammad Yusuf, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Timmer, who earned 13 points.

Golden Gate's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-11. As for Aubrey Rogers, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-13.

Golden Gate didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-54 loss against Lehigh on the 10th. Aubrey Rogers has also already played their next contest, a 73-57 defeat against Barron Collier on the 14th.
