Softball Recap: Arvin Wins Going Away Against North

Arvin made up a huge gap compared to their last game against North, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bears put the hurt on the Stars with a sharp 19-5 victory on Thursday. Considering the Bears have won three matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ava Velazquez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Velazquez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Gonzalez, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. Aniza Moreno was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Arvin moved to 4-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for North, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-4 record.

Arvin has already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Delano on the 7th. As for North, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-0 loss against Garces Memorial on the 5th.
