Basketball Preview: Olentangy Braves vs. Olentangy Orange Pioneers
The Olentangy Braves will head out on the road to take on the Olentangy Orange Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Olentangy had to settle for a 46-43 defeat against the Panthers. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Olentangy has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ulysses Ponder, who scored nine points along with two steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentin Page, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Olentangy Orange unfortunately witnessed the end of their 17-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Pickerington Central by a score of 59-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Olentangy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Olentangy Orange, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-1.
Olentangy ended up a good deal behind the Pioneers in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, losing 60-46. Can Olentangy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
