Softball Recap: Hillcrest Falls to Olympus in First Game of Season

Hillcrest unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Olympus Titans by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Abigail Hitchcock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Nyomi Houston and Bailey Terry stepped up to the plate in a big way. Houston scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Terry went 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Avilynn Godfrey, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillcrest will welcome Alta at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Olympus, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Sky View at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
