Softball Game Preview: Joshua Owls vs. Mansfield Summit Jaguars

Joshua has gone a perfect 4-0 against Mansfield Summit recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Owls will venture away from home to square off against the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Joshua will be strutting in after a win while Mansfield Summit will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, Joshua made easy work of Cleburne and carried off a 9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Isabella Lambert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kinlee Alexander, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Leilanie Sam also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Mansfield Summit fell victim to Centennial and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Spartans. The Jaguars' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

The win got Joshua back to even at 10-10. As for Mansfield Summit, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Joshua hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like Mansfield Summit struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Joshua's way against Mansfield Summit in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Joshua made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Owls since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
