Preview: Churchill Chargers vs. Marshall Rams
The Churchill Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Marshall Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Churchill comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Churchill fell victim to Reagan's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Rattlers, falling 38-0. While losing is never fun, Churchill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 406th, while Reagan is ranked 41st).
Meanwhile, after soaring to 33 points the game before, Marshall were a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They were beaten by Johnson 42-7. Marshall was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
Marshall's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jalen Glover, who rushed for 142 yards while picking up 8.9 yards per carry.
The losses dropped Churchill to 4-4 and Marshall to 2-6.
Churchill took their victory against Marshall in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 29-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Churchill since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
