Baseball Game Preview: Coronado Cougars vs. Arbor View Aggies

The Coronado Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Arbor View Aggies at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Coronado will be strutting in after a victory while Arbor View will be coming in after a loss.

Coronado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Foothill, who was ranked 12th at the time (Coronado was ranked 24th). The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Falcons 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since April 1st.

The team relied heavily on Drew Steffen, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Lorenzo Bradley also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Arbor View scored first but ultimately less than Foothill in their game on Thursday. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 11-4.

Arbor View saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was J Alex Scaggs, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Scaggs is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as he's now launched at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Coronado's victory bumped their record up to 10-17. As for Arbor View, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.

Coronado beat Arbor View 8-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Aggies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
