Preview: Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins vs. Bethune-Bowman Mohawks
Orangeburg-Wilkinson is 8-0 against Bethune-Bowman since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Bethune-Bowman Mohawks at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Orangeburg-Wilkinson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Orangeburg-Wilkinson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-51 to Crestwood.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ladontis Franklin, who scored 15 points. Maurion Gordon was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bethune-Bowman had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top in a nail-biter against North on Tuesday and snuck past 70-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 1-1 season records intact.
Everything came up roses for Orangeburg-Wilkinson against Bethune-Bowman in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 76-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Orangeburg-Wilkinson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
