Softball Game Preview: La Grande Tigers vs. Vale Vikings

The La Grande Tigers will take on the Vale Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

La Grande is headed into the contest with an undefeated record on the line, something Twin Falls almost spoiled on Saturday. La Grande came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 16-15 W against Twin Falls.

Peyton Daggett was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marti Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI.

La Grande was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Vale gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Ontario with a sharp 14-1 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

La Grande's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Vale, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

Everything went La Grande's way against Vale in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as La Grande made off with a 9-0 victory. Will La Grande repeat their success, or does Vale has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
