Advanced Math & Science Academy has won three straight games at home, while Doherty Memorial has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Eagles will welcome the Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. Advanced Math & Science Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Advanced Math & Science Academy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Littleton with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Eagles have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Cole Scully's shutout, as he gave up just a hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Trevor Petty, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Tramontozzi, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Doherty Memorial didn't have quite enough to beat South on Tuesday and fell 8-7.
Doherty Memorial saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden O'Connor, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was O'Connor's first of the season.
Doherty Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Advanced Math & Science Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Advanced Math & Science Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Doherty Memorial, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Advanced Math & Science Academy continue to outrun the ball?
