Brookfield came tearing into Saturday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Newtown Nighthawks 9-1. That's more bragging rights for the Bobcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jack Ponte was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games he's played. Matt McDowell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Brookfield's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Newtown, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-7.
