Baseball Recap: Ardrey Kell Drops Season-High Score on Berry

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ardrey Kell). Everything went their way against the Berry Cardinals on Tuesday as the Ardrey Kell Knights made off with a 20-8 win. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Chase Johnson looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Ardrey Kell got a massive performance out of Owen Green, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Green hit this season. Jake Janowicz was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Ardrey Kell hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.

Ardrey Kell is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. Berry's loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Ardrey Kell and Berry could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Ardrey Kell (ranked 93rd) will meet Providence (ranked eighth) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Berry will square off against Ardrey Kell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday down 288 places (381 vs. 93).
