Softball Recap: Riverdale Comes Up Short

Riverdale extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 10-7 in the process. They came up short against the Caruthers Blue Raiders, falling 14-3. If the Cowboys were looking for revenge after losing 12-2 to the Blue Raiders when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Riverdale saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynn Close, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As for Caruthers, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-9. Considering they have won eight matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Caruthers' side, the team relied heavily on Madison Gamboa, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits Gamboa has posted since back in March. Juliana Lemus was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

While Riverdale had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
