Football Game Preview: Newton Braves vs. Mountain Lakes Lakers + How To Watch

The Newton Braves will head out to take on the Mountain Lakes Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Mountain Lakes likes a good challenge.

If Mountain Lakes heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Newton took over last week. The Braves walked away with a 40-29 win over Kittatinny Regional on Friday. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Mountain Lakes didn't have too much trouble with Morris Catholic on Friday as they won 28-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lakers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Crusaders are ranked 239th).

Newton's record is now 5-2. As for Mountain Lakes, their record now sits at an identical 5-2.

Newton and Mountain Lakes were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but Newton came up empty-handed after a 21-20 defeat. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
