Softball Recap: Blue Ridge Has No Trouble Against Wade Hampton

Blue Ridge won against Broome last Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers blew past the Wade Hampton Generals 13-1. The win continues a trend for the Fighting Tigers in their matchups with the Generals: they've now won six in a row.

K Grant made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Grant was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Blue Ridge let Hannah Durham and Grace Thompkins run wild. Durham scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Thompkins went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Manley, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Blue Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wade Hampton only posted an OBP of .250.

Blue Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, Blue Ridge will be taking part in a tournament against Eastside at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wade Hampton, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Travelers Rest at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
