Baseball Recap: Norwayne's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Norwayne dropped their record down to 12-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell 5-2 to the Hillsdale Falcons. The Bobcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

As for Hillsdale, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

For Hillsdale's part, Aiden Hoffman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Hoffman has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brady Heller was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Knox Lewis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Norwayne wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-2 victory against Northwest on the 9th. As for Hillsdale, they will take on Loudonville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
