Basketball Recap: Hauser Jets vs. Rising Sun Shiners

After flying high against Traders Point Christian last Saturday, Hauser came back down to earth. The Hauser Jets fell 57-44 to the Rising Sun Shiners on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Jets in their matchups with the Shiners: they've now lost three in a row.

Braelyn Williams and Aleigha Wickliffe certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Williams earned 11 points, while Wickliffe posted six points along with six steals. What's more, Williams also racked up three threes, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was June Berkenstock, who earned two points along with eight rebounds.

Rising Sun's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carrigan Friend, who went 5 for 10 en route to 24 points plus three steals. Hillary Lambert was another key player, posting 16 points in addition to five rebounds.

Hauser's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Rising Sun, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-5.

Hauser will host Southwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rising Sun, they will take on South Dearborn at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Dearborn has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
