Soccer Game Preview: Priory vs. Menlo School

Priory is 0-9-1 against Menlo School since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Priory Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Menlo School Knights at 2:45 p.m. Priory's last five matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Wednesday, Priory and Crystal Springs Uplands finished up their contest with a 2-2 draw.

Ennio Hoxha was the only thing that stood between Priory and a shutout considering he scored both of Priory's goals, bringing his season total up to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, Menlo School waltzed into their game on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Their defense stepped up to hand the Knights a 5-0 shutout. Given Menlo School's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 197th, while King's Academy is ranked 604th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Menlo School is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those ten contests. With that draw, Priory's record moves to 5-3-3.

Priory suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Menlo School in their previous matchup on January 8th. Can Priory avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
