Baseball Recap: West Florence Beats Sumter for Their Fourth Straight Win

West Florence got themselves on the board against Sumter on Thursday, but Sumter never followed suit. They won by a run and slipped past the Gamecocks 1-0. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Gamecocks on their field since April 15, 2016.

Not much got past Matthew Brown, who gave up just four hits to keep Sumter off the board. Brown has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

The victory (which was West Florence's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.
