Baseball Recap: Tussey Mountain Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Tussey Mountain had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers a 5-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Titans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Jack Stoudnour made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Clark, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Camden Chilcote also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Tussey Mountain now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tussey Mountain will host McConnellsburg at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Berlin Brothersvalley, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Turkeyfoot Valley Area at 2:30 p.m. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.14 runs per game on average), something the Mountaineers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
