Basketball Recap: Berry Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Max Westbrook and Ashton Waltrip

Berry and Sumiton Christian squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Berry had to settle for second. They lost 90-70 to the Sumiton Christian Eagles. The Wildcats have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Berry's loss came despite strong showings from Ashton Waltrip and Max Westbrook. Waltrip posted 13 points and seven rebounds, while Westbrook scored 12 points and three steals. Westbrook is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Jordan Jackson was another key player, putting up five points along with eight boards and five blocks.

Berry's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Sumiton Christian, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2.

Berry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sumiton Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 68-67 loss against Hubbertville on the 4th.
