Baseball Recap: Union County Takes a Loss

Union County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cypress Bay Lightning.

Union County got a good showing from Kacen Thomassen, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Thomassen also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Union County is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Union County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trenton Klein, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Union County's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Cypress Bay, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union County will head out to square off against Baker County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cypress Bay, they will venture away from home to take on West Broward at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give Cypress Bay their first taste of in-conference action this season.
