Basketball Recap: Channel Islands Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Channel Islands won the last time they faced Fillmore and things went their way on Friday too. The Channel Islands Raiders put the hurt on the Fillmore Flashes with a sharp 75-52 victory. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Flashes are ranked 885th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Channel Islands to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rajai Moody, who posted 14 points along with eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Anguiano, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Channel Islands was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fillmore only posted three assists.

Fillmore's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaime Soto, who earned ten points. Another player making a difference was Brendon Palushaj, who put up 11 points.

The win (which was Channel Islands' sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Fillmore, they dropped their record down to 6-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Channel Islands didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-46 victory against Hueneme on the 16th. As for Fillmore, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 62-31 defeat against Eastside on the 14th.
