Softball Recap: New Palestine Dragons vs. Plainfield Quakers
After losing to Plainfield the last time they met, New Palestine decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Dragons put the hurt on the Quakers with a sharp 10-2 win on Friday. Fans of the Dragons have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Sadey Hughbanks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Katie Hirschy was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Saydie Miller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Hirschy wasn't the only one making solid contact: New Palestine kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
New Palestine's record is now 4-0. As for Plainfield, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Palestine will venture away from home to take on Franklin Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Plainfield, they will head out to square off against Whiteland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
