Basketball Game Preview: Union Christian Day Eagles vs. Lake Pointe Academy Mariners

The Union Christian Day Eagles will head out to challenge the Lake Pointe Academy Mariners at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lake Pointe Academy is hoping to do what Varsity Opponent couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Union Christian Day's winning streak, which now stands at four games. Union Christian Day took their matchup with ease, bagging a 62-35 victory over Varsity Opponent.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Pointe Academy). They claimed a resounding 84-29 win over Westgate Christian. The victory was familiar territory for the Mariners who have now won five contests in a row.

Union Christian Day better keep an eye on James Jacobs. He was instrumental in Lake Pointe Academy's win, putting up 23 points. Jacobs' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keagan Hiser, who posted 15 points.

Lake Pointe Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points per game. As for Union Christian Day, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Things could have been worse for Union Christian Day, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-39 loss to Lake Pointe Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2024.
