Basketball Recap: Surry HomeSchool Comes Up Short

Surry HomeSchool was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a blow against the Greater Cabarrus S Stallions, falling 94-61. While losing is never fun, the Runnin' Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 604th, while the Stallions are ranked 234th).

Surry HomeSchool lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ian Schuyler, who posted 19 points. The dominant performance gave Schuyler a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Butcher, who put up 15 points.

Greater Cabarrus S can attribute much of their success to Ashton Arrowood, who had 24 points. With that strong performance, Arrowood is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Patrick Oldham, who scored 18 points.

Surry HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 9-21. As for Greater Cabarrus S, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-7.

Surry HomeSchool wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-60 loss against South Charlotte on the 3rd. As for Greater Cabarrus S, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-37 defeat against Carmel Christian on the 4th.
