Softball Game Preview: James River Midlothian Rapids vs. Clover Hill Cavaliers

James River Midlothian is 2-8 against Clover Hill since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rapids will venture away from home to square off against the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

James River Midlothian is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. They lost 20-8 to Glen Allen.

Georgia Swenck stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan DeVries, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Clover Hill unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against Cosby, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Cavaliers were not able to get on the board.

James River Midlothian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Clover Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

James River Midlothian came out on top in a nail-biter against Clover Hill when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rapids since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
