Softball Recap: Nyack Red Hawks vs. Nanuet Golden Knights
While Nyack put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Nanuet. The Nyack Red Hawks came out on top against the Nanuet Golden Knights by a score of 5-0. Winning may never get old, but Nyack sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Gianna Longo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Longo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season. Longo was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Maeve O?Donnell was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Yelina Arias was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBI.
Nyack now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Nanuet, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nyack will square off against Suffern at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Nyack's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Suffern's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Nanuet, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rye at 4:30 p.m. on April 29th.
