Baseball Recap: Orangeburg-Wilkinson Comes Up Short

Orangeburg-Wilkinson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-11 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ridge View Blazers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blazers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-4 last Tuesday.

Ethan Crosby and Kaleb Jamison did some serious damage despite the final result: Crosby went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Jamison scored two runs and stole Four bases. while going 4-for-5. Those four stolen bases gave Jamison a new career-high. Donovan Hughes also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Even though they lost, Orangeburg-Wilkinson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridge View only posted a batting average of .167.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Ridge View, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orangeburg-Wilkinson will host Hanahan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ridge View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Georgetown at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
