Softball Recap: Zeigler-Royalton's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Zeigler-Royalton's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the St. Bede Bruins 13-11. The win was some much needed relief for the Tornadoes as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Mayti House was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Furlow-Hampton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Zeigler-Royalton's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for St. Bede, they dropped their record down to 8-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zeigler-Royalton will host Hamilton County at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Foxes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.57 runs per game on average), something the Tornadoes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Bede, they will welcome Illinois Valley Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
