Monmouth United barely beat Bureau Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Red Storm never let the Storm get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Saturday. Considering the Red Storm have won eight games by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Tanner Rogers tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last five contests.
At the plate, Ian Leffler was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chance Stewart, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
The win was the third in a row for Monmouth United, bringing their record up to 21-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bureau Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.
