Soccer Game Preview: Moorpark vs. Camarillo

The Moorpark Musketeers will head out on the road to square off against the Camarillo Scorpions at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

On Tuesday, Moorpark narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Oak Park 3-2. Given the Musketeers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Eagles are ranked 197th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mattheo Sipaque and Brady Conyers scored all three of Moorpark's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Meanwhile, Camarillo's game on Tuesday was all tied up 2-2 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They had just enough and edged Royal out 3-2.

Moorpark is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-1-3 record this season. As for Camarillo, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2-4.

Moorpark was able to grind out a solid win over Camarillo when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moorpark since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
