Basketball Recap: Damonte Ranch Takes a Loss

Damonte Ranch played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Fernley Vaqueros, falling 67-47. The defeat leaves the Mustangs without a win on the season.

Despite the loss, Damonte Ranch saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kylee Moscove posted 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moscove has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmine Monges, who had six points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Taylor Tollestrup continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fernley, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Tollestrup is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jaelece Wasson, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Damonte Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Fernley, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Damonte Ranch will host Piedmont at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Piedmont will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Damonte Ranch surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fernley, they will square off against Bishop Manogue at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fernley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.
