After a string of six wins, Orion's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Galena Pirates by a score of 46-43. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Chargers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Pirates are ranked 300th).

Orion's loss dropped their record down to 12-3. As for Galena, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Orion will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rockridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Galena and Lena-Winslow will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
