Basketball Recap: Charlotte Elite Academy Soldiers vs. Lab University Prep Lab Rats
After a string of three wins, the Charlotte Elite Academy Soldiers's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 83-68 bruising from Lab University Prep. While losing is never fun, Charlotte Elite Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Lab Rats are ranked 12th).
Charlotte Elite Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gavin Jones, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. It was the first time this season that Jones scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan King, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
DeMarco Reynolds was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points for Lab University Prep. Reynolds is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last seven games he's played. Kevin Crockett was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Charlotte Elite Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Lab University Prep, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Charlotte Elite Academy will head out on the road to take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lab University Prep, they will take on the Eagles at TBD on Saturday. One thing working in NC GBB Academy National's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests.
