Baseball Game Preview: Houston Academy Raiders vs. Long Rebels

Houston Academy hasn't had much luck against Long recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Houston Academy Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Long Rebels at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Houston Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Pike County a 17-0 shutout. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Raiders this season.

Cooper Powell looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).

At the plate, Houston Academy got a massive performance out of Gabe Glover, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Ty Morris was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Long got the win against Northside Methodist Academy on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-3. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

With the win, Houston Academy broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-7. As for Long, their record is now 4-1.

Houston Academy came up short against Long in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 12-9. Can Houston Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
