Softball Game Preview: Wissahickon Trojans vs. Hatboro-Horsham Hatters

Wissahickon is 0-7 against Hatboro-Horsham since April of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Trojans will square off against the Hatters at 3:45 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Thursday, Wissahickon came up short against Quakertown and fell 9-6.

Ava Frederick made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those RBI were her first of the season. Tara Plover was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Hatboro-Horsham's offense. They fell just short of Upper Dublin by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Hatters were not able to get on the board.

Kennedy Conn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hatboro-Horsham saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Karpovich, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Hatboro-Horsham and nudges their season record down to 5-4. As for Wissahickon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Hatboro-Horsham's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wissahickon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. It's a different story for Hatboro-Horsham, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Wissahickon's hitters?

Wissahickon suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Hatboro-Horsham in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
