Preview: NorthWood Panthers vs. Culver Academies Eagles
The NorthWood Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Culver Academies Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. NorthWood will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
NorthWood scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They came out on top against Bremen by a score of 63-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Claire Payne and Joselyn Edwards were among the main playmakers for NorthWood as the former dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds and the latter scored 23 points along with three steals. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for Edwards. Callie Johnson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Culver Academies struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Carroll had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Culver Academies took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carroll.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Valencia Miller, who scored 13 points. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Seddelmeyer, who scored eight points.
Culver Academies struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
NorthWood pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Culver Academies, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Wednesday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: NorthWood have been dynamite from deep this season, having only drained 34.6% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Culver Academies, though, as they've only drained 34.6% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
