Softball Recap: Myrtle Wins Going Away Against Byers

Myrtle got themselves on the board against Byers on Tuesday, but Byers never followed suit. They blew past the Byers Lions 17-0. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ally Murphy made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Murphy was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Streich, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1. Shelby Thompson was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Myrtle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .895. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Myrtle's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Myrtle Hawks duke it out with Falkner Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Byers, they will be playing at home against Pine Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Byers is coming into the game on a 12-game losing streak dating back to last season.
