Preview: Burleson Elks vs. Joshua Owls
Burleson is 9-0 against Joshua since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Burleson Elks will be playing at home against the Joshua Owls at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to 36 points the game before, Burleson were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They were beaten by Everman 47-6. Burleson was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-6.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Joshua, who are still winless after their seventh game. They were outmatched by Seguin at home and fell 42-13. While losing is never fun, Joshua can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 803rd, while Seguin is ranked 254th).
Burleson has not been sharp this season, as they've lost six of their first seven contests, which leaves them at a 1-6 record this season. As for Joshua, their loss was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7.
Burleson took their win against Joshua when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 37-16. Will Burleson repeat their success, or does Joshua have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
